Banished from Wild Point Island as a child, Ella Pattenson, a half human-half revenant, has managed to hide her true identity as a descendent of the Lost Colony of Roanoke.  Thought to have perished, the settlers survived but were transformed into revenants–immortal beings who live forever as long as they remain on the island.

Now, Ella must return to the place of her birth to rescue her father from imprisonment and a soon to be unspeakable death.  Her only hope is to trust a seductive revenant who seems to have ties to the corrupt High Council.  Simon Viccars is sexy and like no man she’s ever met. But he’s been trapped on the island for 400 years and is willing to do almost anything for his freedom.

With the forces of the island conspiring against her, Ella  must risk her father, her heart, and her life on love.

This was a very compelling and suspenseful story with a hot forbidden romance mixed in. It was such a creative story – definitely not your everyday boring and predictable romance novel. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. Can’t wait for the movie to be made!

Kate Lutter has constructed a tantalizing story about a revenant, Simon Viccars, from the lost colony of Roanoke, graced with immortality as long as he remains on Wild Point Island, and Ella Pattenson, a half human, half revenant descendant from the original colony. Ella is a contemporary scientist, determined to rescue her revenant father from imprisonment and what promises to be a horrific death on the island. Simon Viccars has been trapped on the island for four hundred years, and it’s unclear just how far he’ll go to escape. Ultimately, what’s more important to him, love or the freedom to be off-island?

Ms. Lutter has succeeded in combining classic romance with a refreshing paranormal. She adds a few twists, and this book is a romantic and satisfying fun summer read.

This book was very intriguing. Like previous reviewers, you find yourself in constant suspense. You do not know what the outcome is going to be on this mystical island. And at the same time Ella found a love she has never experienced before. You find yourself wondering whether she will choose Simon over her father. She seemed she will do anything for that love. I wondered what I would do. Would I choose my love or my family? A good read and highly recommended.

I found Wild Point Island to be my favorite beach book of the summer. I had no difficulty at all getting lost in the mysterious and forbidden love story of Ella and Simon. I found myself wondering if I too would ever take a chance on something so dangerous and delicious as their need for one another. Congratulations to Kate Lutter on such a fabulous first novel. You were obviously destined to be a writer, and I can’t wait for the next book.

By LCR  Captivating Creative Story  5 stars

Half romance and half mystery, Wild Point Island is a totally compelling novel. Ella, the main character, is strongly attracted to Simon, a revenant she’s just met. He’s handsome, charming, passionate and obviously attracted to her. But Ella just doesn’t know if she can trust him! As their attraction grows, the mysteries of Wild Point Island become a larger and larger obstacle to their future happiness.

Throughout the story, each of the other characters interact with Ella and Simon to keep the action moving at a rapid rate and the reader is captivated by the unfolding events. Ms. Lutter keeps us involved in the plot and eager to see the resolution of all problems. It is an extraordinarily entertaining story and I look forward to the sequel. Well worth the read.

By Michelle MaBelle  Great Paranormal with Strong Science Elements  5 stars

I really loved Wild Point Island. It was different to other Paranormal novels I’ve read, but in a good kind of way that made it stand out. I liked Ms Lutter’s use of science, and her creative alternative to vampires – revenants – who are immortal but are also prisoners on their own little island.

Apart from that, I totally empathized with the protagonists Ella and Simon. Ella is half human and half revenant, and the story is about her quest to save her revenant father and reunite him with her human mother. Add to the mix the intriguing revenant Simon, who quickly becomes very important to Ella. But here’s the dilemma. Ella can’t stay on the island, and Simon can’t leave.

An excellent first book. I can’t wait for the sequel.

By mpyne  Historical Event Gives Rise to Intriguing Paranormal Novel  5 stars

I don’t usually read paranormal novels, but the premise of Kate Lutter’s “Wild Point Island” intrigued me. The Lost Colony of Roanoke Island was the seed that spawned Wild Point Island’s alternate universe – an island now inhabited by revenants (those who returned after death) who live undetected by humans on the mainland. Suspense, mystery and romance blend together while the hero and heroine grapple with issues of family, betrayal, trust and love. The three-dimensional characters carry the reader through the plot at high speed. I look forward to the sequel.

Kate Lutter’s world building in Wild Point Island is outstanding, and this love story showcases her vivid imagination wonderfully. She uses the mystery of the lost colony of Roanoke as a foundation for the creation of a unique society and race that was human before being transformed into revenants by a poisonous plant that prevented the colonists from starving. Now they are neither alive nor dead, and they don’t age as long as they remain on Wild Point Island. If they leave the island they will age at a rapid rate that will kill them in a matter of weeks. After 400 years, the island has become a prison for its residents.

The half human and half revenant heroine, Ella, has dedicated her life to developing an elixir that interrupts the unnatural aging processing on the mainland, so the island’s residents can finally be free to travel the world. She returns to her childhood home on Wild Point Island–where she is faced with intrigue and betrayal–to barter for the release of her father who is serving a fifty-year prison sentence.

Simon, the revenant hero, who she enlists to help her in her negotiations, is sexy and mysterious and lends this paranormal romance a strong Gothic feel. The epilogue suggests Ms. Lutter will continue her story in a second book that is also sure to enthrall readers.
